Storia della “kairologia”©

La “kairologia”, il paradigma di una nuova ermeneutica della natura umana, ideato dal prof. Giuseppe Rodolfo Brera, nasce ufficialmente il 22 Ottobre 1993 ad Assisi, al I° Congresso Internazionale di Adolescentologia, “Make peace with life” presentata dal suo autore nella relazione introduttiva, come nuovo campo di studi multidisciplinare.

«A questa prospettiva unificante delle scienze umane ho dato il nome di “kairologia” (dal greco “kairos” = momento opportuno, e “Logos” = discorso) perché lo scopo è studiare e permettere la sintesi creativa come nuova realtà esistenziale vissuta nella soggettività…».

L’autore ha ideato il modello attraverso lo studio del pensiero simbolico degli adolescenti. Il lavoro originario: “Il kairos dell’esistenza” è stato pubblicato sulla Rivista Medicine and Mind (1993-1994 vol VIII, 2 :-IX, 1 : 5-16- in inglese ed italiano) il e sulla rivista Adolescentologia ( 1-1994): “ The kairos of existence”. (

Contestualmente nel Novembre del 1993 il prof. Brera idea il “Programma kairos” © un’applicazione della kairologia nell’educazione alla salute degli adolescenti che entra nel curriculum didattico del Corso di specializzazione in adolescentologia della Scuola Italiana ndi Adolescentologia e del corso di Counselling medico con l’adolescente.

Nel Giugno 1994, ( 8 maggio-1 Giugno) alla 4° conferenza internazionale della Società Europea di ricerca sull’adolescenza (EARA), a Stoccolma, il prof. Brera presenta un nuovo lavoro illustrativo del paradigma e della sua nascita dallo studio del pensiero simbolico degli adolescenti con il lavoro “New epistemological orientation in research on adolescence”.

Nel Settembre 1994 (1-3) a Losanna l’autore, al Congresso internazionale: Prèadolescence-recherche et clinique” presenta il saggio: “Nouveaux aspects epistemologiques de la recherche en Adolescentologie”

Nel Novembre 1994 il Prof. Giuseppe Rodolfo Brera pubblica il saggio in Inglese: “ The kairos of existence” ( CISPM editore, Milano 2004), dove l’autore presenta la struttura della teoria ed il suo fondamento “The kairos of existence-mystery, possibility and reality in Adolescence, dove l’autore presenta la teoria kairologica e le sue grandi possibilità applicative in epistemologia e conseguentemente nelle applicazioni preventive e cliniche.

Il 1 Aprile 1995 nel congresso internazionale a Bruxelles: “Le franchissement de l’adolescence:….au risque de se perdre” il prof G.R. Brera presenta l’approfondimento ulteriore della struttura teorica della kairologia “Mystère, possibilité, realité: une interpretation phenomenologique pour la teorie et la clinique en adolescentologie”. (Brera G.R. “Mystery, Possibility and Reality: A new hermeneutics for adolescence and human nature. Medicine, Mind and Adolescence 1996; XI: 5-14). Nel Novembre 1995 a Ghent, nel simposio promosso dalla World Federation and Society of Adolescentology, l’autore ha presentato un ulteriore approfondimento teorico delle applicazioni della kairologia nell’interpretare lo sviluppo dell’adolescente: “True self, false self and the development of the human identity.”

Il 27 maggio 1995 Giuseppe R. Brera presenta al convegno “L’adolescentologia: dall’epistemologia alla kairologia” il lavoro: “The Kairos of existence mystery,possibility and rality. A new hermeneutics for adolescence and human nature”. Fu il I° convegno internazionale dedicato alla kairologia e alla sua innovazione nello studio della natura dell’adolescente e della persona umana, si tenne a Castellamare di Stabia e fu promosso dal prof. Vincenzo Ovallesco.

Nel Giugno 2005 il Prof Giuseppe Rodolfo Brera pubblica il saggio in italiano: “Il kairos dell’esistenza – Mistero, possibilità e realtà nell’esistenza e nella natura umana”, dove approfondisce le premesse psico-biologiche e fenomenologiche della teoria.

Nel saggio, presentato il giorno dell’inaugurazione dell’Università Ambrosiana, il 25 Giugno 1995, Giuseppe Rodolfo Brera pubblica per la prima volta la teoria della “ Relatività delle reazioni biologiche alle possibilità e alla qualità del coping” che poi sarà pubblicata in un saggio nel 1996. ( A revolution for the clinical method and the medical research: the determinate and the quality indeterminate relativity of biological reactions”- Università Ambrosiana 1996) e nel 1997 “ The relativity o biological reactions the first formulation of an epistemological interactionist paradigm for medical science and its application in clinical research and medical education” Medicine Mind and adolescence . 1997, vol. XII ,1-2 : 7-14).

Nel Novembre 1996, il Prof Giuseppe Rodolfo Brera , presso la Università Ambrosiana, presenta il Manifesto della Kairologia.

Successivamente il Prof. Giuseppe R. Brera ha sviluppato le applicazioni della kairologia in tre campi: Adolescentologia ( Clinica e ed educazione alla salute e alla creatività) e Teoria della Medicina dando vita alla “ Teoria dell’adolescenza centrata sulla persona” presentata come relazione introduttiva al V° Congresso Internazionale di Adolescentologia : “ Assisi 2000 :Adolescence in the 21 st Century-Time for growing. ( The adolescent as person. The person centered theory of adolescence Medicine, Mind and Adolescence 2001; XVI: 1-2 :5-23.) e alla Medicina centrata sulla persona e al Metodo Clinico Centrato sulla persona .©® (1998) “Il metodo clinico” Atti del Congresso : Assisi 98: il medico e la persona dell’adolescente – 24-25 Ottobre 1998 e nel saggio: “La medicina centrata sulla persona e la formazione dei medici nel terzo millennio .IEPI Pisa 2001”

Nel 2003, presso l’Università Ambrosiana è nato il Centro Studi Kaiorologici ©® diretto dallo stesso prof. Giuseppe R. Brera .

Kairology, the paradigm of a new hermeneutics of human nature, a new field of human knowledge, was founded by Giuseppe Rodolfo Brera and was presented for the first time on October 22^nd 1993 in the introductory speech of Assisi 93: Make peace with life, the first international conference of Adolescentology: “The kairos of existence”.

«……I called this unifying perspective of human sciences: “Kairologia” ( from the Greek word: “ kairos”= right moment, and “Logos” - speech –science, because its aim is to study and reach a synthesis .»

Giuseppe Rodolfo Brera ideated the model while studying the symbolic thought of the adolescent. The Kairology theoretical foundation paper: “The kairos of existence” was published on the Journal “Medicine and Mind (1993-1994 vol VIII, 2:-IX, 1: 5-16) and on the journal “Adolescentologia” ( 1-1994) .

In 1993 Giuseppe R. Brera ideated “The Kairos program©” addressed to develop Kairology applications in adolescents’ health education. The topic was the experience of mystery, creativity and human beings’ dignity and freedom. The kairos program was submitted to different experimental studies and presented important results, implementing at the same time cognitive and person centred factors and creativity.

In June 1994 at the 4th International Conference of the European Society for Research on Adolescence, (EARA) in Stockholm (May 28-June1), Giuseppe R. Brera further developed the kairological paradigm and its formulation in the paper “New epistemological orientation in research on adolescence”.

In September 1994 ( 1-3) in Lausanne, at the International Conference: “Pre-adolescence: recherche et clinique” ( CH), the author presented a further paper on Kairology: “Nouveaux aspects epistemologiques de la recherche en Adolescentologie” and in November published the essay: “The kairos of existence-mystery, possibility and reality in existence and in human nature (CISPM, Milan 1994) where the author presented a summa of the theoretical work on Kairology and its possibilities of application in education, prevention and clinics.

In November 1994, in Milan, at the II° International Conference on Adolescentology: “Adolescence and family”, Giuseppe R. Brera presented a further investigation on Kairology in the paper: “For a theory about adolescence e and human nature: epistemology, phenomenology and paradigms of research in adolescentology”, illustrating how Kairology could explain, better than previously done, the development of the adolescent and human nature reality.

On April 1^st 1995, in Bruxelles, at the international conference: “Le franchissement de l’adolescence: au risqué de se perdre” Giuseppe R. Brera presented a further and complete deepening of the Kairology theoretical structure: “Mystère, possibilité, realité: une interprétation phénoménologique pour la théorie et la clinique en adolescentologie”. (Brera G.R. “Mystery, Possibility and Reality. A new hermeneutics for adolescence and human nature” - Medicine, Mind and Adolescence 1996; XI: 5-14) and in November 2006, at the Symposium promoted in Ghent by the World Federation and Society of Adolescentology, the author presented an examination of the kairological application to the interpretation of the development in adolescence and human nature: “True self, false self and the development of the human identity”

In July 1996 at the WFSA symposium held in Prague Giuseppe R. Brera presented a synthesis of the kairological hermeneutics applied to adolescence.

On May 27^th 2005, in the first international conference dedicated to Kairology: “Adolescentology from epistemology to Kairology” held in Castellamare di Stabia and organized by Prof. Vincenzo Ovallesco, Giuseppe R. Brera opened the session with the paper: “The Kairos of existence: mystery, possibility and reality: a new hermeneutics for adolescence and human nature” and in June published a new essay in italian: “Il kairos dell’esistenza –Mistero, possibilità e realtà nell’esistenza e nella natura umana”. (Università Ambrosiana, Milano 2005) – “The kairos of existence-mistery, possibility and reality in existence and in the human nature” (Ambrosiana University, Milan 2005)

In the essay presented in the opening ceremony of the Ambrosiana University, on June 24^th 1995, Giuseppe R. Brera, for the first time presented the kairology epistemological base.

In 1996 in the essay “revolution for clinical method and research: the determinate and the quality indeterminate relativity of biological reactions” (Università Ambrosiana, 1996) and in the paper of 1997, “The relativity of biological reactions”, Brera delivers the first formulation of an epistemological interactionist paradigm for medical science and its application in clinical research and medical education (Medicine Mind and adolescence. 1997, vol. XII ,1-2 : 7-14).

On November 1996, at the Italian School of Adolescentology, Giuseppe R. Brera presented “The Kairology manifesto”.

Giuseppe Rodolfo Brera developed the theoretical frameworks of Kairology application in three areas:

1) Adolescentology, (clinics, education in health and creativity),

2) Person-Centred Theory of Adolescence”, introductory paper in the 5^th International Conference on Adolescentology: “Assisi 2000: Adolescence in the 21^st Century-Time for growing. (The adolescent as a person. The person-centred theory of adolescence Medicine, Mind and Adolescence 2001; XVI: 1-2 :5-23.) and

3) “Person-Centred Medicine” and “Person-centred Clinical Method” in “The clinical method”: proceedings of the Conference: “Assisi ‘98: the adolescent and the doctor” (October 24-25 1998).

In the same year the author published: “The manifesto of Person-Centred medicine” (http://www.unambro.it/html/manita.htm -1998 ; and Medicine, Mind and Adolescence 1999; XIV : 7-15).

The kairological principles of medical science were introduced by the author also in the essay published in 2001: “Person-centred medicine and medical education in the third millennium-IEPI, PISA 2001 130 pg) ).

In 2003 Giuseppe Rodolfo Brera founded the “Kairology Research Centre” at the Ambrosiana University.
